Octave is a high-level language, primarily intended for numerical computations. It provides a convenient command line interface for solving linear and nonlinear problems numerically, and for performing other numerical experiments using a language that is mostly compatible with Matlab. It may also be used as a batch-oriented language. The GNU Octave Beginner's Guide gives you an introduction that enables you to solve and analyze complicated numerical problems. The book is based on numerous concrete examples and at the end of each chapter you will find exercises to test your knowledge. It's easy to learn GNU Octave, with the GNU Octave Beginner's Guide to hand. Octave was originally developed as a companion software to a undergraduate course book on chemical reactor design4. It is currently being developed under the leadership of Dr. J.W. Eaton and released under the GNU General Public Licence. Octave’s usefulness is enhanced in that it is mostly syntax compatible with MATLAB which is commonly usedFile Size: KB. This is now and the book was written in Octave has changed since then. Distributions known to package Octave include Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora, Gentoo, and openSUSE. These packages are created by volunteers. The Octave interpreter can be run in GUI mode, as a console, or invoked as part of a shell script. More Octave examples can be found in the wiki. Solve systems of equations with linear algebra operations on vectors and matrices. Visualize data with high-level plot commands in 2D and 3D.
